4.48 Psychosis

A revival of the Royal Opera House production of 4.48 Psychosis — Philip Venables’s opera setting of Sarah Kane’s final play — restaged at the Lyric Hammersmith in 2018. The work fragments Kane’s text across six voices, resisting linear narrative in favour of something more visceral and associative.
The video design for the revival worked within the visual language established for the original production, finding new ways to let the imagery breathe within the Lyric’s space. The piece moves between near-clinical precision and total dissolution — and the design had to hold both.
