Aisha and Abhaya
A co-production between Rambert and The Royal Ballet, Aisha and Abhaya is a new dance work by director Kibwe Tavares — a fantastical story of two sisters forced to flee their homeland, set against choreography by Sharon Eyal and an original score by Ori Lichtik. The piece weaves live performance with film, animation and projection to build a world both otherworldly and painfully familiar.
The video design sits at the intersection of the two languages the work inhabits: the raw physicality of Eyal’s choreography, and the imagistic world Tavares builds through lens and frame. All screen content was created by Factory Fifteen in 3D animation and motion capture — finding a visual grammar that could hold both the sisters’ interiority and the scale of what surrounds them.
