As You Like It
Designed during a trip back to Singapore for Chinese New Year, this was the 2nd year Acting department’s annual Shakespeare production at LASALLE — directed by Prof. Michael Earley and later remounted at Gateway Theatre in July.
All the hand-drawn animation and artwork was created on the then-new 2018 iPad Pro with Apple Pencil using Procreate — the first time I’d used it on a production. The immediacy of drawing directly into the design, without the desk and the Wacom, changed how the imagery developed — looser, more instinctive, closer to how the forest scenes in the play actually feel.
Alongside designing, I mentored the Technical Theatre students who operated and programmed the show, and gave a talk to LASALLE’s graduating cohort on professional practice and postgraduate routes.
