Jason Robert Brown’s two-hander for Singapore Repertory Theatre, directed by Daniel Jenkins at KC Arts Centre. Nathan Hartono and Inch Chua — both known well beyond the theatrical world — bring particular weight to a show that is already intimate by design.

The Last Five Years is a show that lives in its lighting. The reverse-chronology structure means every scene is at a different emotional temperature, and the two storylines occupy the same space but never quite the same light. The design has to carry that without explaining it.
